Happiness. Who doesn’t strive for this, as the dictionary describes, state of well-being, defined by positive emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. When the Dalai Lama was asked, what he considers the purpose of life, here is what he responded: ” I have considered this question and would like to share my thoughts in the hope that they may be of direct, practical benefit to those who read them. I believe that the purpose of life is to be happy. From the moment of birth, every being wants happiness and does not want to suffer. Neither social conditioning nor education nor ideology affect this. From the very core of our being, we simply desire contentment. I don’t know whether the universe, with its countless galaxies, stars, and planets, has a deeper meaning or not, but at the very least, it is clear that we humans who live on this planet face the task of making a happy life for ourselves. Therefore, it is important to discover what will bring about the greatest degree of happiness.”

Yet we all know, that one of the biggest obstacles between ourselves and happiness are the fears and anxieties, that can make us perceive the world and ourselves as neither safe nor desirable. For the last 15 years, I have been focusing my work on helping people to overcome their emotional challenges and to build a stronger sense of confidence and self-appreciation, which are both the foundation to create a happy and fulfilling life.

But since there are many paths that can lead to greater happiness, I am excited that my friend and colleague Katrine Horn has put on The Choosing Happiness Summit, which I am honored to be a part of.
